FORT SMITH, AR - Marijuana has been found at the Fort Smith Regional Airport, but it wasn't in a passenger's bag.
Instead, the marijuana was found growing on airport-owned land adjacent to the terminal.
Airport Director Kent Penney says officials received a tip from the Air National Guard about the marijuana patch.
Drug task force officials estimate that $120,000 worth of marijuana wa growing on airport land, which is marked by a no-trespassing sign. Penney says the airport owns 1,600 acres of land, and the area where the marijuana was growing is not part of the airport patrolled by security officers.
No one has been arrested yet, but the area will be under surveillance in case the grower returns for his or her crop.
