Arkansas Congressman Heads Out for Sixth Visit to War Zone

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Republican Congressman John Boozman is part of a congressional delegation that left yesterday for a visit to Iraq.

The trip is sponsored by the White House Veterans Affairs Committee, and the delegation is headed by California Congressman Bob Filner, chairman of the committee.

Boozman's office says the group is expected to arrive in Kuwait early this morning, local time, before traveling into Iraq.

It will be Boozman's sixth trip to Iraq since the start of hostilities in March 2003.

The delegation is scheduled for briefings by both military and diplomatic officials.  Boozman says the goal is to talk with Arkansans serving in theater and to focus on medical care for injured troops.

Boozman made a similar trip to Iraq in August 2006.  The delegation with which he is traveling this year also plans to visit Afghanistan and Pakistan.
