Forrest City Man Who Fled after 30-Day Sentence Nabbed in Shooting

FORREST CITY, AR - Forrest City police have caught a man who fled a Forrest City courtroom where he was sentenced to 30 days in jail.  But 22-year-old Edward Lanier Walker was caught yesterday when authorities were investigating a weekend shooting.

Walker was a passenger in a weekend shooting that was pulled over in a traffic stop.  He was wanted on a battery charge for the shooting and wounding of 22-year-old Dexery Powell of Forrest City.

Powell was wounded in the abdomen on Sunday.  Police say the men were arguing about a car.

Last week, Walker fled from drug court in Forrest City after being handed a 30-day sentence in a driving-while-intoxicated case.
