LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Health Department says two more Arkansans have died from heat-related causes, bringing the state total to eight.
A Health Department spokesman wouldn't reveal details about the victims, saying the information is protected.
The state had a rainy June, but the precipitation and mild temperatures ended in July. High temperatures repeatedly soared above 100 degrees, and precious little rain fell in Arkansas in August, until the last couple of days.
The Health Department says the state averages ten heat deaths per summer.
