Library Aims to Put Arkansas History Books on School Shelves

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Students throughout Arkansas are reaping the benefits of a new program that puts history books on the shelves in the schools' libraries for free.

The Books for Arkansas Students' Education program, by the Central Arkansas Library System, recently made its first shipment of 150 books to school libraries throughout the state.  The library says it invited all Arkansas schools to join the free program, and also asked Arkansas authors and editors to donate history books to the program.

The program made its first shipment August 22, and now has 47 participating schools.
