Rogers Considering Ban of Roadside Puppy Sales

ROGERS, AR - A Rogers couple wants the city council to ban roadside puppy sales.

Robert and Barbara Kossieck have bred Labrador retrievers for more than 20 years.  But the couple says allowing people to sell puppies out of cages along the side of the road is dangerous in a couple of ways.  The couple says the sales distract drivers.  And they claim some puppies bought on impulse end up in crowded animal shelters.

Rogers requires permits for street-side animal sales, but the Kossiecks say the documentation requirement doesn't address their concerns.

The city says it issues two or three pet sale permits for each weekend of the spring and summer.
