Wynne, AR (KAIT)-You might be surpised to learn, Wynne, AR is home to the state's only pet grooming school.  Pet lover and school founder, Mary Ann Berry started the school back in 2006 and says it's something the state has needed for a long time.

We now spend $41,000,000,000 a year on our pets and that means the pet care industry is in great need of qualified groomers.  Berry used to have her own grooming salon, but soon found herself overwhelmed with business, that's when she decided she needed to open Arkansas Pet Grooming in Wynne.

"So I'm thinking, if they need grooming shops, then what better way to train the individual to do one the right way and hlep the industry," said Berry.  "It's the only occupation that I truly love."

After an application and online course, Berry enrolls only 6 students per semester, that way insuring plenty of one on one teaching instruction.  Classes are 9 to 5 monday through Friday, with 200 hours of course work needed for a state grooming license.  Students come from all over, with the current class boasting students from Tennessee and Oklahoma.

The pet grooming course costs a little more than $1,000 and a pet grooming kit costs around $800.
