BONO, AR - The one-lane bridge connecting two Craighead County roads may be old but local residents say they still need it to get around the northeast Arkansas county.
The bridge may be 100 years old, and it creaks, rattles and shakes when vehicles drive over it. Residents complain that the bridge is a hazard and should be fixed soon.
The bridge is owned by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad.
Craighead County Judge Dale Haas says he's been in talks with the railroad. A Burlington Northern spokesman says the railroad wants to make the bridge safe and preserve it for its historical value. The railroad says it is working with the county and the state on financing the work.
