State Panel To Decide Fate of Ruby Tuesday's Liquor Permit Appeal Today

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The fate of a private club liquor permit for a Jonesboro restaurant will likely be decided today by a state panel.

The Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission's board will hear the appeal of the local franchise of Ruby Tuesday.  Last month, ABC director Michael Langley of Paragould denied the request, which is typically a part of the routine procedure whenever there is any formal opposition to a permit.

Ruby Tuesday is located at 2915 Kazi Drive in Jonesboro, and is part of a national chain of restaurants that specialize in traditional American cuisine such as steaks and burgers.  The Jonesboro franchise is seeking to become the twentieth establishment in dry Craighead County to obtain a private club liquor permit.  Other chain restaurants, such as Outback and O'Charley's, have been granted such permits by the state, but last year the ABC board turned down a request by El Chico.

The Ruby Tuesday appeal is expected to be heard by the ABC board at approximately 10 o'clock this morning.  K8 News will have a crew in Little Rock for the meeting, and will have a full report tonight on K8 News at 6.
