Pemiscot Dispatcher Shot, Search on For Suspect

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO - A dispatcher from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Dept. was shot this afternoon at the America's Cash Advance store in Caruthersville.

According to Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, dispatcher Jack Owens was inside the business at the corner of Ward and 3rd streets, when a man walked in with a small black revolver around 2 p.m.

Owens attempted to wrestle the gun away from the man and was shot in the arm.  The suspect apparently got away with some cash.

The suspect is described as a black male, about six feet tall, wearing a grey T-shirt and jeans.  He left the scene in a silver or gray Chevrolet with rust on the top.

Owens was taken to the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with non life-threatening injuries.

K8 News has a crew en route to Caruthersville and will have more information as it becomes available.
