Little Rock 9 Honored at Gala Featuring Clinton

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Former President Clinton says he rooted for the nine black students who integrated Little Rock Central High School, though he was an 11-year-old boy living 50 miles away in the small town of Hot Springs.

Clinton says the nine "dared to dream that the American dream belonged to them too."

Clinton joined the nine black students who integrated Central High School as a foundation in their name awarded scholarships to nine college students.

The audience of about 1,300 people at the Little Rock Statehouse Convention Center also included retired Army General Wesley Clark, the Reverend Jesse Jackson, former Transportation Secretary Rodney Slater and former Arkansas Governor Dale Bumpers.
