Man Accused of Firing Gun Inside UAPB Student Union

PINE BLUFF, AR - University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff officials say they've stepped up security on campus after a man allegedly fired a gun inside the student union at a school dance last weekend.

Police say 21-year-old Johnny Jones was arrested shortly after the incident Saturday morning.  Jones, who wasn't a student, reportedly fired the shots inside the union's ballroom, causing an estimated 250 people to flee.  Authorities say no one was hit by gunfire, though some people suffered minor injuries while trying to leave the ballroom.

Chancellor Lawrence Davis, Jr. says the campus has beefed up security, and that they're being extra careful after fatal shootings at Virginia Tech and Delaware State earlier this year.
