FONTAINE, AR - Emergency responders were on the scene in the Fontaine area this morning after a Greene County Tech school bus went out of control.
The accident happened on Highway 168, between Lorado and Fontaine, at approximately 7:30 a.m. A witness at the scene says the eastbound bus apparently went out of control as it attempted to cross a bridge.
Several ambulances were dispatched to the scene. Injured students were taken to St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, and Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould. According to hospital sources, six students were taken to AMMC, with two patients listed in fair condition, while four others are considered "stable." Five patients have since been released from AMMC. A spokeswoman at St. Bernard's says only one bus passenger was admitted there. Tech Superintendent Sheila Ford said that student is beleived to be in good condition.
The students range in grades from Kindergarten to 11.
