WTOC-Brunswick Jury Calls for Death Sentence in Cobb Co. Murders

A Brunswick jury has sentenced Stacey Humphreys to death by lethal injection for the 2003 murders of two Cobb County real estate agents. The jury deliberated for nearly 19 hours before returning the death sentence. The victims' families cried and embraced quietly as a court clerk read the verdict today, while Humphreys stood, showing no emotion.

The jury found Humphreys guilty of malice murder on Tuesday. Prosecutors said he attacked 33 year old Cyndi Williams and 21 year old Lori Brown to steal money to make a payment on his truck. The women's naked bodies were found November 3, 2003, inside their sales office in Powder Springs, Georgia. The trial was moved to Brunswick from Cobb County because of pretrial publicity.
