53rd Arkansas Soldier Killed in Iraq

WHITE HALL, AR - An Army sergeant from White Hall has died in a roadside bombing and gunfight in Baghdad.  The family of Sergeant First Class James Doster says he was serving as a convoy leader in Iraq, and was killed Saturday.

Doster graduated from White Hall High School and joined the Army during his second year at Hendrix College 17 years ago.  He also served in the Gulf War and was in one of the first tanks on the battlefield in that conflict.

In Iraq, he was in the 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based out of Fort Riley, Kansas.

The 37-year-old soldier is the 53rd Arkansan to be killed in the Iraq war.  A military funeral is planned at Lakeside Methodist Church in Pine Bluff.
