Jonesboro Ranks 74th in FBI's Most Violent Cities List

Jonesboro - Memphis may be number one, but Jonesboro's Metropolitan Statistical area ranks as the 74th most dangerous in the United States according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  The FBI's rankings take into account violent crimes inside the 300 MSA's in America.  Jonesboro's MSA includes 113,000 people that live in Craighead and Poinsett Counties.

The FBI counts murder, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault as violent crimes.  There were 637 violent crimes reported in the Jonesboro MSA in 2006.  That's down from 681 from 2005.  Arkansas' other MSA's, Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Texarkana, Fort Smith and Fayetteville all ranked as being more dangerous than Jonesboro's.
