Memphis Police Arrest Three in Shooting Death of U of M Football Player

MEMPHIS, TN - Three men were charged today in the fatal campus shooting of a University of Memphis football player.

Taylor Bradford, 21, of Nashville, was shot September 30 shortly before police found him fatally wounded in his car, which had crashed into a tree outside his apartment.  The shooting occured just three nights after the team had played in Jonesboro against Arkansas State.

Three Memphis men who are not students at the university are now charged with murder in the perpetration of attempted aggravated robbery.

Police said they have in custody 21-year-old DaeShawn Tate, 21-year-old Victor Trezevant; and 22-year-old Courtney Washington.

Police have previously refused to discuss a motive for the slaying, but said today that the men specifically targeted Bradford to rob him.

He reportedly had won money at a Mississippi casino before being slain.
