Caraway Grave Site Added to National Register

JONESBORO, AR - The Jonesboro gravesite of U.S. Senator Hattie Caraway, the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate, has been formally added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The gravesite is located in the Oaklawn Cemetery in west Jonesboro.  The former Jonesboro resident died in 1950.

Other northeast Arkansas properties added to the Register include the Turrell City Hall in Crittenden County, Calico Rock Methodist Episcopal Church in Izard County, Tyronza Water Tower in Poinsett County, and the McCrory Waterworks in Woodruff County.
