Missing "Bridge Jumper" Found Alive in Mena, Jailed on Warrant

MENA, AR - A Fouke man facing rape and theft charges is back in jail in Miller County after disappearing in June.

Authorities searched for days for the body of Jody Cook, who reportedly jumped off Two Rivers Bridge on June 16.  But prosecutors refused to dismiss the rape charges unless Cook's body was found.  Yesterday, Cook was found hiding in a bedroom in a home about eight miles southwest of Mena.

Polk County Sheriff Mike Oglesby says authorities went to the home after receiving an anonymous phone call that said Cook and his family were hiding out there.

Cook was brought back to the Miller County jail last night.

Cook is wanted in Miller County on a felony warrant for the alleged rape of a 13-year-old in 2004.   He also faces a theft charge stemming from allegations that he stole a gun in December 2006.  Numerous failure to appear warrants had been issued since Cook missed a scheduled court date in July.
