CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Southeast Missouri State University is celebrating the opening of a new campus dedicated to arts education on Sunday.
The school's River Campus costs about $55 million to complete. It's located on a Mississippi River bank near the Emerson Bridge in Cape Girardeau.
A renovated seminary and new cultural arts center hold classroom space where students study arts, music, dance and theater.
The public will also be able to visit new museum and gallery space and attend shows in a new concert hall and two theaters.
The campus' interim director, Gary Miller, says the school has an obligation to provide cultural opportunities for the region.
