Lists Narrowed to Three for Higher Ed Position

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The state Higher Education Department  says it has narrowed to three the field of candidates for the director's job.

The state Higher Education Coordinating Board is conducting the search for a replacement for Linda Beene, who resigned the $134,000-a-year job to work at the University of Arkansas.

Those still in the running are Betty Overton of Spring Arbor, Michigan, vice president for academic affairs at Spring Arbor University; James Purcell of Edmond, Oklahoma, associate vice chancellor for strategic planning and analysis for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education; and Kermit McMurry of Oklahoma City, vice chancellor for student services for the Oklahoma State Regents.
