Jonesboro Bootmaker Gets Another Military Contract

JONESBORO, AR - A Jonesboro manufacturing plant will benefit from a $2 million-plus contract to make boots for soldiers.

Bates Uniform Footwear, a division of Michigan-based Wolverine World Wide, announced Wednesday it will make 10,000 Tora Bora alpine combat boots under the military contract.  In addition to the Jonesboro plant, other Wolverine plants in Rockford and Big Rapids, Michigan, will make the boot.  A news release said the boots were engineered for soldiers in mountain areas, for use in ski warfare, ice climbing, and snowshoeing expeditions.
