Huckabee Touts Support for White House Bid among Arkansas Republicans

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee announced the formation of an "Arkansas GOP Leadership Team" yesterday.  The former Arkansas governor touted the support of a dozen sitting Republican lawmakers as he tried to avoid the perception of shaky support within his own party in his home state.

Twelve of the state's sitting 33 Republican legislators, a little over a third, announced they joined the group supporting the former governor's bid for the Republican presidential nomination.  The leadership team also includes former Congressman Asa Hutchinson and his brother, former U.S. Senator Tim Hutchinson.

Huckabee's campaign has gained strength in Iowa but a poll shows he faces skepticism within Arkansas.

Huckabee's leadership team also includes state GOP Chairman Dennis Milligan, former U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins, former Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt and current Congressman John Boozman.
