Suspect Rejects Plea in Baxter County Slaying

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR - A man accused of killing his part-time roommate has rejected a plea deal offered by prosecutors in Baxter County.

James Scott Williams of Midway is charged with first-degree murder for the slaying of Terry Lee Emmick, who died May 20 from a gunshot wound to the head.

Williams told police he was trying to unload a semi-automatic rifle when he accidentally fired it.  Williams says he did not immediately call 911 because he did not know what to do.

A trial date is to be set in the case.
