LITTLE ROCK, AR - State auditors say about half of Arkansas' 75 counties have inadequate security for their computer systems. And employees and staffers across the state say they have trouble remembering passwords and using some of their equipment.
The topic came up Thursday before a legislative committee. Some testifying said their workers post passwords on their computer monitors because passwords used under the state standards are too hard to remember. Those standards require an eight-character password of numbers and letters.
The state Dept. of Information Systems now recommends county employees think of a movie title and place a number in the middle of it and change that number every 90 days.
