Mexican Consulate in Arkansas Stays Busy

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Mexican Consul Andres Chao says visits by Mexican nationals to the consulate in Little Rock have more than doubled since the office opened.

The consulate served about 50 Mexican citizens a day when it opened in April.  Chao says the staff now sees more than 120 people a day.  He says that number could increase if staff are added to meet the demand.  Chao says the consulate plans to hire an additional three or four workers next year.

The consulate serves Mexican citizens living in Arkansas and parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Oklahoma.  It offers matricula consular identification cards and passports, as well as legal protections.
