Bald Knob Man Arrested for Soliciting Arson

BALD KNOB, AR - On Tuesday, detectives with the White County Sheriff's Department received information that a person was attempting to hire someone to commit arson.

Authorities say 63-year-old Benjamin Taran of Bald Knob was arrested following an undercover sting arrest by the Sheriff's Dept.  Deputies say Taran met with an undercover detective posing as a potential arsonist.  Taran allegedly solicited the agent to burn several buildings located on property in White County for the fee of $400.  The suspect allegedly also told the officer that he could earn the money by "beating up" a targeted victim.  Taran was arrested a short time after the meeting.

Taran is charged with conspiracy to commit arson and his bond was set at $20,000.
