$2 Million-Plus Appropriated for Region 8 Rail Projects

WASHINGTON - Members of the Arkansas congressional delegation announced today that Congress has finalized an annual spending bill containing millions of dollars for numerous Arkansas transportation and economic development projects, including rail-highway priorities in Craighead and Crittenden counties.

The funding includes $1.84 million for completion of the Caraway Road Bridge Overpass project in Jonesboro.  A planned overpass will be build over two local railroads to alleviate vehicle and rail traffic conflicts connecting the city and the Arkansas State University campus.

Meanwhile, $500,000 has been appropriated for the Highway 77 Rail Grade Separation in Marion.  The project will include a grade separation crossing over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks.
