Little Rock Mayor Says Homeless Still a Priority

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Advocates estimate about 3,000 homeless people live in central Arkansas.  Still the city of Little Rock doesn't have funding budgeted for a day center to help get them off the streets.

Little Rock was among more than 220 American cities that committed, three years ago, to provide job training and low-cost housing to homeless people.  Mayor Mark Stodola says he still wants to open a day center for the homeless and he will continue this week to seek money for the project.  He says the preliminary budget shouldn't be seen as a lack of interest in addressing the problem of homelessness.
