Junior Auxiliary Cookbook Raises Money for Region 8

JONESBORO, AR -- With more than 13 service projects ranging from serving weekly meals at City Youth to awarding scholarships at ASU, the Jonesboro Junior Auxiliary is a group with a lot on their plates.  And a new cookbook they have released is hoping you will too.

"The cookbook sells itself, it really truly does. All we have to do is say, we've put out a cookbook and we show it to people and they just are wowed, they just say 'oh my goodness'" laughed Ruth McCauley of Junior Auxiliary.

Three years in the making, Rendezvous on the Ridge is finally for sale in Region 8 with 5,000 copies available in hardback.

"We wanted to do something that not only reflected Junior Auxiliary of Jonesboro, but also our community. And our community is known for its hospitality.  That is one thing I think Jonesboro is great with. When we have someone new or someone passes away we just flock with food in hand and we just wanted to have a cookbook that reflected that," said McCauley.

Junior Auxiliary members spent the last year and a half perfecting recipes and preparing the book.

"There's beginning recipes and there are recipes an experienced cook will enjoy. But they are all very usable, it's a very usable cookbook," said McCauley.

Rendezvous on the Ridge can be purchased for $30 from any J.A. member in Jonesboro and is available at Camden & Company, Cooking Now, Epifanies, J. Christopher Toys, Jonesboro Occasions, Invisions Eye care and Wenfield's.

Junior Auxiliary is hosting a launch party for the cookbook on Thursday, November 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Barton's Design Center on Brown's Lane.  Food at the party will be featured recipes from Rendezvous on the Ridge and there will be cooking demonstrations.  Tickets for the party are $40 and include a cookbook.
