Louisiana State Police Provide Hotline for Travelers to Baton Rouge for Arkansas-LSU Game

BATON ROUGE, LA - Arkansans who had planned to drive to Friday's Arkansas-LSU game at Baton Rouge using Interstate 49 to Lafayette, Louisiana, and Interstate 10 from there to Baton Rouge will have to find another route.  The 55-mile stretch of I-10 from Lafayette to Baton Rouge has been closed by a gas-well blowout and fire just 300 feet from the interstate.

Louisiana State Police are urging motorists to use U.S. 190 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge, or find a route that doesn't involve a drive between those two cities.

State Police in Louisiana said yesterday they had set up a hot line that motorists can call to get updated information about alternate routes.  That number is 1-800-469-4828.

Travelers can also get information from the state police website www.LSP.org or by dialing *511 on their cell phones.
