FORREST CITY, AR - A hearing over a disputed 2006 Democratic primary runoff for a state Senate seat has been indefinitely postponed.
Court officials say a lawyer representing the St. Francis County Election Commission asked for the delay in the case involving former state Representative Arnell Willis' complaint over his 78-vote loss to Jack Crumbly. They say Willis' lawyer offered no objection.
A St. Francis County judge dismissed Willis' lawsuit in December. In a ruling this month, the state Supreme Court ordered new hearings in the case, saying voters who cast illegal ballots in contested elections can be forced to testify how they voted.
Crumbly, who faced no opponents in the general election, was sworn in as senator in January.
