Beebe Says Pine Bluff Arsenal Needs New Mission

PINE BLUFF, AR - Governor Beebe says the Pine Bluff Arsenal will need a new mission once its completes destruction of the last of chemical weapons stored at the site.

Before destruction of nerve gas and blister agent began, the arsenal stored 12 percent of the nation's stockpile of chemical weapons.

Speaking in Pine Bluff on Tuesday, Beebe has said the arsenal has to look for a high-tech route in the future to keep the site active.  Beebe says he and members of the state congressional delegation support expanding the role of the arsenal.
