LITTLE ROCK, AR - A former staff attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission will now serve as commissioner of Arkansas' securities department.
Governor Beebe announced yesterday that he appointed Heath Abshure of Little Rock to head the agency. Abshure will begin work next month and replaces outgoing commissioner Michael Johnson.
Abshure was a partner at the Williams and Anderson law firm in Little Rock and specialized in corporate securities matters. Prior to that, he worked for the SEC in Washington for two years.
