Harrison Soldier Killed in Iraq

HARRISON, AR - The Defense Department says Army Spc. Matthew K. Reece of Harrison was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq.

The military confirmed yesterday that the 24-year-old Reece died Saturday in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle was struck by the bomb.

Reece was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

The military says that Reece's survivors include a wife and son in Oak Grove, Kentucky, his mother of Parthenon and his father of Harrison.

Reece is the 57th soldier from Arkansas to be killed in the Iraq war.
