Vice President Duck Hunts in Eastern Arkansas

STUTTGART, AR - Vice President Cheney stopped by a Stuttgart hunting supply store yesterday to pick up supplies while hunting in the heart of Arkansas' duck country.

Television footage showed Cheney looking over a box of rounds as other shoppers walked past the vice president in Mack's Prarie Wings.  Store employees say it was Cheney's third visit to the store in Stuttgart, a rural town that bills itself as the "duck capital of the world."

Cheney told Little Rock television station KATV that he's been on Mack's mailing list and wanted to stopy by.  He ended up buying a pair of suspenders and some ammunition.

Megan Mitchell, a spokeswoman for Cheney's office, says the vice president arrived yesterday in Arkansas.  Mitchell says Cheney hunted yesterday and today before flying back to Washington tonight.

In 2006, Cheney peppered attorney Harry Whittington with birdshot while quail hunting in Texas.  The vice president was criticized for not immediately going public with the incident.
