Landowners File Lawsuit over Proposed MBC Holdings Retail Project in NLR

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two landowners have filed a federal lawsuit over a proposed North Little Rock shopping center anchored by a Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.

The plaintiffs are Guy Choate, who owns land a half-mile north of the Shoppes at North Hills site, and Jeffrey Rickman, who lives a quarter-mile south of the site.  The Shoppes at North Hills project is a development by Jonesboro-based MBC Holdings, owners of Jonesboro's The Mall at Turtle Creek.

Environmental groups sued in April 2005, arguing that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers should have required developers to complete an environmental impact statement before they were granted a permit.

A federal judge ruled in 2006 that the environmental groups had no standing to file the suit.

The lawsuit, which was filed yesterday, asks for an injunction on the project.
