SeMo Mother Thanks Police for Efforts

JACKSON, MO - The woman who lost two children in a shooting rampage by her husband is thanking authorities for their efforts, while advocates called for more resources to expand shelters.

Katherine Moshari says authorities in the southeast Missouri town of Jackson did all they could to help her and her children.

Police suspect that Mir Shahin Moshiri shot his wife, their two young children and his stepson on December 3, then turned the gun on himself.  He and two children died.  Katherine Moshiri and her 2-year-old daughter survived, but the child remains hospitalized.

A shelter reportedly turned away the family because the stepson was too old.

The Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is calling for more resources to expand domestic violence shelters.
