Arkansas Telemedicine Program Gets $4.2 Million Grant

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Telemedicine programs in Arkansas will benefit from a $4.2 million federal grant that has been awarded to an alliance of health care organizations.

The money from the Federal Communications Commission is for a three-year project to consolidate and expand existing public and private non-profit telehealth networks.  The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences announced the award yesterday.  UAMS will share in the money.

The funding is to allow medical information and education to be delivered across the voice and high-speed data network to nearly 800 locations.
