Tree Limb Death Raises Ice Storm Toll to 2

JOPLIN, MO - The death toll from Missouri's ice storm is at least two after a 92-year-old man was killed by a falling tree limb.

The man was trying to cut down an ice-damaged tree outside his home yesterday in a rural area near Carl Junction, north of Joplin in Jasper County.

Coroner Jerry Neil says a limb fell and hit the man in the head.

The man's name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The Highway Patrol previously reported that a 22-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a vehicle that slipped on ice on U.S. 63 north of Jefferson City.
