Josie's Owners Killed in Car Accident in Cleburne County

CONCORD, AR - The co-owners of the popular Josie's restaurants in Waldenburg and Batesville were killed in a two-vehicle accident last night in Cleburne County.

According to an Arkansas State Police accident report, 31-year-old Dustin Carpenter and his wife 30-year-old Sarah Carpenter, both of Batesville, were pronounced dead at the scene after their northbound SUV struck the rear of a tractor-trailer rig on Arkansas 25 near Concord.  The accident occured at 9:56 p.m.  The truck driver and his passenger were not injured.

The Carpenter family owns the Josie's at the Lockhouse restaurant in Batesville, and Josie's Steakhouse in Waldenburg.  Dustin Carpenter was the son of Josie's founder Steve Carpenter.
