Former Julio's Co-Owner Claims Racial Profiling and Discrimination against JPD

JONESBORO, AR - The former owner of a downtown Jonesboro restaurant and bar says he's filing a federal lawsuit against the Jonesboro Police Department Chief Mike Yates, the Arkansas State Police and Jonesboro District Judge Keith Blackman.

Julio Diaz, who once co-owned the former Julio's establishment now known as El Matador on Main Street, told Region 8 News this afternoon that his lawsuit alleges racial discrimination and racial profiling against the JPD, false arrest against the Arkansas State Police, and violation of civil rights against Judge Blackman.

Chief Yates responded to Diaz' allegations by saying, "If Mr. Diaz feels he needs to file a federal lawsuit, then that is his right to do so."
