Shoppers Flood Stores Despite Wintery Weather

Jonesboro-

Are the holiday shopping crowds, along with the threat of winter weather too much to handle? Depends on who you ask.

"It's not too bad," said shopper Stacy Hill. "There are some stores that aren't even crowded."

Shopper Monica Hobbs said otherwise. She said Saturday's crowds were enormous.

With Christmas in less 10 days, the countdown is on .. so a little rain and a lot of traffic troubles, some people say, aren't going to keep them away.

"I did have second thoughts because I knew it was going to be crowded," said Robert Hill of Jonesboro. "I thought I'd better do it now and get it over with."

For Target manager Jeremy Schopper, there's been no drop-off in customers.

"Our guests are still coming," he said. "We've seen a significant increase in sales over last year. Especially our winter clothing; there's been a strong boost for that."
