Jonesboro Man Charged with Rape and Incest of Minor Stepdaughter

JONESBORO, AR -- A Region 8 man faces rape and incest charges involving his 15-year-old stepdaughter.  Jonesboro Police Department Detective Gary Shackelford told Region 8 News the mother reported the abuse last week saying it had been going on for a while.

38-year-old Allen Ellis of Jonesboro is facing six counts of rape and six counts of incest.

"The mother had the allegations that her husband had been giving her daughter prescription drugs and then having sex with her," said Det. Gary Shackelford.

According to the police report, the 15-year-old was caught acting under the influence by her mom and after taking her in for a drug test the mother questioned her daughter about where she got the drugs.

"The minor who is 15-years-old told her mother that she in fact was receiving prescription drugs from her stepfather and then having sex with her stepdad," said Shackelford.

Shackelford said there were similar allegations several years ago that were unproven involving Ellis and the same victim.  Another twist to the tale, Shackelford said the victim was afraid of consequences if she told anyone.

"She was scared to come forward with this.  The minor in question had stated that her stepfather had made threats to do bodily harm to the mother if she ever came out with and discussed what was taking place," said Shackelford.

After his arrest, Shackelford said the suspect did admit to having sex with the minor and to giving her the drugs.

"He eventually did tell me that the allegations the girl had been making were true.  He has had sexual intercourse with the juvenile," said Shackelford.

The police report shows that he did admit to giving her some drugs including Hydrocodone, Soma, and Xanax.

Ellis is currently out on bond.  His next court date is January 28th.
