MEMPHIS, TN - The mother of two children who died in a New Year's Day house fire has been charged in their deaths.

Firefighters responded to a call at 1:55 a.m. on Tuesday.

Four-year-old Romellow Winters and 7-year-old Christian Griffen were found by firefighters on the ground floor of a two-story wood-frame apartment building, one boy in a bedroom and the other in a bathroom.

Both were taken in critical condition to St. Francis Hospital, where they later died.

Memphis police say 29-year-old Aundria Jones told them she had left her sons alone while she went out to celebrate the new year.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Jones is charged with two counts of reckless homicide.
