Phillips County Shutdown Continues

HELENA-WEST HELENA, AR - Closed until further notice is the message patrons of Phillips County government are getting.

The county officially shut down Wednesday due to a budget impasse by the county's Quorum Court.  The panel is not scheduled to meet again until Tuesday.

A division among Quorum Court members resulted in the budget falling one vote short of passage last month.  The panel is not scheduled to meet again until Tuesday.

A division among Quorum Court members resulted in the budget falling one vote short of passage last month.  County Judge Don Gentry says a special meeting could be called if the needed six votes are there for passage.  Otherwise, the county won't get a budget until Tuesday night, at the soonest.

The county sheriff's department is continuing to operate but the courthouse is closed.
