Tornadoes Claim Two Lives Overnight in Missouri

MARSHFIELD, MO - A tornado killed two people Monday evening in southwest Missouri.  One victim was identified as 55-year-old Nancy Green, who was in a mobile home with her husband northeast of Marshfield.  The tornado struck her home around 7:30 p.m.

The other victim was identified as 85-year-old Rachel Lawson, who lived west of Strafford, near Springfield.  She died at a Springfield hospital several hours after her home was flattened by the storm.

There was widespread damage throughout much of southwest Missouri last night, and minor to moderate injuries were also reported.  There are also reports of minor damage in northwest Arkansas, in Benton County, where an emergency official reported that a tornado touched down near the Rainbow Curve community.
