Bush Mideast Peace Trip - In Israel

ISRAEL (AP) - President Bush arrives in Israel with hopes for Mid-East peace.  Bush wants to build momentum for the stalled peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.  This is his first trip to the small nation since before he was elected President.

After touching down, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and the entire Israeli Cabinent greeted Bush.  Even a red carpet awaited the President of the United States.  The main highway between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem was also shut down as he arrived, though Bush did travel by helicopter.

Bush also spoke on the Iran situation, saying Iran should heed the Israeli's resolve for self-defense.

President Bush will visit the West Bank, Kuwait, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Egypt in this peace trip.
