JACKSON, MO - A southeast Missouri police officer accused of assaulting three teenagers is now out of work.
Jackson Police Chief James Humphreys announced the firing of Edward Moore on Thursday, the same day Moore was charged with three counts of misdemeanor third-degree assault. He is accused of attacking his 15-and-18-year-old sons and the 18-year-old girlfriend of one of the boys.
Authorities say Moore grabbed the older boy by the throat during an argument and punched him. He allegedly grabbed the girl by the throat and punched her in the face when she tried to step in. Police say the younger son was also punched while trying to break up the fight.
Moore is jailed on $3,500 cash-only bond.
