TUPELO, MS - Elvis Presley's Tupelo, Mississippi, childhood church is getting spruced up.
Officials with the Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation say the First Assembly of God Church will be restored to what it looked like in the 1940s.
Officials plan to open it to visitors in August. The church will be placed about 100 feet south of the chapel.
The Foundation's executive director Duck Guyton says Elvis was probably more influenced by his church and black church music than anything else.
Presley was born in Tupelo on January 8, 1935 and died at his Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee, on August 16, 1977.
